Students from Law Development Center (LDC), the institution in Uganda for higher learning that offers various legal courses, have petition the Uganda Law Council requesting for a complete and comprehensive audit of all exam results.

LDC students who were unable to graduate this year in June have sought intervention from Uganda law Council with other prayers intending to streamline the institution under scrutiny.

“In light of the foregoing, we seek your assistance in obtaining the following prayers,” the petition begins.

1. LDC releases a detailed breakdown of the cumulative results for Academic Year 2019/2020 to all students forthwith but in any event no later than 23 July 2021. This breakdown should include scores for all modes of assessment namely Individual Assessments, Oral Examinations, and Final Examinations.

2. LDC provides clear timelines and processes for students whointend to appeal their results.

3. A complete and comprehensive audit of all exam results should be carried out by the Law Council in the exercise of its mandate as theregulator of the conduct of legal education in Uganda.

4. A comprehensive investigation into the marking, tallying and compilation of all student results for the Academic Year 2019/2020 be carried out by the Law Council in the exercise of its mandate as the regulator of the conduct of legal education in Uganda.

5. LDC provides clear timelines for hearing and determining all queries on missing marks.

6. The Director of LDC grants a waiver on payment of supplementary fees before a student sits for the supplementary exam in accordance with Rule 25(1). The student can be allowed to make the payment after and their results can be withheld until payment has been done.

7. LDC undertakes a prompt refund of all monies that were paid by students for appeals and/or verification of results where the said students later discovered that they had passed.

8. LDC conducts verification of results for all students who have applied within 14 days after the lifting of the National Lockdown.

9. LDC suspends the conduct of all supplementary exams for the Academic Year 2019/2021 until the disposal of all applications for verification and appeals so as not to render these remedial mechanisms nugatory.

10. LDC gives at least one (1) month notice to all students intending to do supplementaries of the conduct of all supplementaries starting with oral examinations.

11. LDC puts in place clear rules for receipt, investigation, and handling of all student complaints for all academic years going forward

The petition was seconded by all students including those that allegedly passed without knowing their exact score.

True … transparency! If I passed then what were my scores accordingly? it's not about one cheering up to a success they can't even explain
