Henry Suubi Kiyimba, a former Makerere University fresher who was trolled on social media for carrying a metallic suitcase at the start of his university life, has finally completed his course in Mechanical Engineering this year.
Initially bound for a career in education/teaching, Mr Suubi who later received support to pursue his passion in engineering has (as rumor has it); landed his first gig at an engineering firm, months away from his graduation at Makerere. The young man is currently undertaking paid work at Uganda Baati Limited.
Expressing his gratitude on twitter following accomplishing his studies at Uganda’s premier institution, Mr Suubi wrote: “After successfully completing my BSc in Mechanical Engineering at Makerere University, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. “
“The journey has been challenging yet rewarding, and I am grateful for the Lord’s guidance and support throughout.”
All thanks to his mentor and project supervisor Mr Aita Joel, who is the founder of Joadah Consult – a regional provider of professional technical and management support services.
Joadah Group supported Suubi academically and financially throughout his time at University.
“Thank you so much! Regardless of where we come from, we have the power to overcome adversity, learn from our past, and create a future that aligns with our aspirations and ambitions” Suubi responded to one his many wishers in the comments section on twitter.
Suubi is one of the many expected to graduate at Makerere in January 2024.
His life journey serves as testimony and life lesson to many, who feel low over society’s mockery of their disadvantage.
