Lira University has reappointed Prof. Ogwal Okeng as vice chancellor for a second term starting November 1, 2024 following the end of his first term in October. The appointment was made the university’s chancellor Dr. Benjamin Odoki.
“On behalf of the Lira University Management Team, I wish to announce that the Chancellor of Lira University, Hon. Justice Dr. Benjamin Odoki, has reappointed Prof. Jasper Watson Ogwal Okeng as the Vice Chancellor, Lira University, for another 5-year term, effective 1st Nov. 2024,” the university said in a statement on Thursday.
Prof. Okeng was sworn in for his second term at an event presided by Shamim Amolo, an Advocate and Commissioner of Oath on October 30, 2024. The event was witnessed by members of the University Appointments Board.
Prof. Ogwal Okeng promised to continue promoting and embracing team-building spirit among staff and embracing consultations for vibrant decision-making and effectively undertaking academic and development activities of the university.
The appointment is in line with the powers conferred upon the University Chancellor by Section 31(4) of the Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 as amended 2006.
