Three Lira university students have given their academic journey a
break to pursue careers in the military during the on going nation-wide recruitment.
These students include Joseph Ogwal, Raphael Okema both second year public administration students and Eram Ameda.
While asked about why they decided to take up such decisions, Okema said this was his only chance to join the military and when the opportunity knocked on his door, he welcomed it with his arms wide open.
Okema added that joining the military doesn’t put an end to his academic journey since he applied for a dead year from where he will pick up once he is done with the training in the years to come.
For Ogwal, tuition hardships made him find his way into the recruitment grounds at Akii Bua stadium in Lira municipality on Tuesday. He added that he had always struggled to raise tuition of over Shs 900,000 per semester.
Like Okema, Ogwal also decided to put a pause to his education, undergo military training and then return to campus when he will be in position to pay his own tution since he will be a soldier and earning from the services he will be providing.
As for Ameda the third student, his passion to be a soldier inspired him to take up this step and join the military. while talking to the media, he said he had always wanted to be a soldier all his life and could drop anything just to achieve this.
These students were part of the 1000 participants who were seeking recruitment into the Military at Akii Bua stadium, Liira district.
Campus bee wishes these students the best in their endeavors.
