With an Aim of building confidence and resilience amongst teens so that they can resist temptations, Fly a program championed by Melinda and Gates Foundation has embarked on engaging the youth to fight harmful habits such as the consumption of Shisha, cigarettes and kuber.
This is the birth-child of six months spent working with teens to create a movement by them, for them. Fly is all about positive self-expression, supporting teens to pursue their goals and make smart choices to keep them on their path.

Speaking at the official launch today Sheila Ndyanabangyi from the Ministry Of Health affirmed that the Ministry shall be working closely with FLY to combat and fight for a Tobacco-free generation.
Through the Good Business a consultancy that specializes in creating initiatives to promote positive social change and this programme was made possible thanks to a grant they were awarded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Tobacco Control Programme.
Fly a campaign aiming to nurture the dreams of the youth in Uganda is officially being launched now at Riders Lounge at Acacia Place.
Amanda Kamugisha from Good Business affirms that Fly will join the good Business’ other programs SKY in Botswana and a soon to launch brand in Ghana, each designed to build an empowered, resourceful and tobacco-free generation.
“All teens have something they really like- that’s their thing. For some it’s football, for others it’s music, or even fashion, cars farming, chess, maybe even robotics. Many call them the leaders of tomorrow, but they are already winning hearts today. We want to celebrate this love amongst teens for things that empower them, their genius for making it their identity and fun they have while doing it”, Amanda noted
Over the next few months FLY will be asking teens across the region “What’s your thing?”, celebrating teens who are making positive choices in their lives and providing a platform for them to showcase these choices, skills and capabilities.
Following the launch event, FLY will be running an extensive media campaign in print, TV Radio, Out Of Home and on Social Media. The media campaign will be supported by a number of on ground activities that will be directed through schools and a number of communities in Kampala,Entebbe and Masaka.
“We will invite teens to participate in a number of activities and showcase their capabilities to the nation through our media partners. Throughout the campaign, we will present teens with opportunities to win exciting prizes including Fly hoodies, speakers and exclusive experiences like paint balling”, a Fly Official noted.
