Time check: 15:30 Location: Livingstone hall. The rising tension manifested in the fears and concerns of widespread insecurity within and around Makerere university this afternoon spilled over after an intruder was arrested stealing a blanket. The unidentified fellow was roughed up by Block E members who cornered him. Shortly after, sporadic chants of “thief, thief, thief, ” filled the afternoon hitherto quiet Livingstone quadrangle.
Angry as bees in the drought, Livingstone residents responded in droves. Picking up pieces of timber, wood and water. The furious residents unleashed untold rage upon the fellow. Asking for his ID which he certainly didn’t have.
Slaps, kicks, blows rained on the fellow. The hall leaders prevented the lynching of the suspect who nonetheless was left bloody eyed. His sides were riddled with lumps arising out of gross impact between flesh and wood. An infuriated student attempted to pour scalding hot water out of an electric kettle. He was held back by sober minded residents.
Spitting blood, his woes were increased by the confession of one of the Cleaner’s kids a one Allen Mugayo who intimated he’d seen the same fellow attempt to carry away extension cables out of the TV room last week.
The fellow was saved by the timely intervention of Afande Byaruhanga, who sprayed pepper spray towards one of the “Chief Beaters”. A sole bullet was fired before sanity was restored.

Two days ago, an intruder entered into a room on Block A and carried a laptop bag and funds belonging to Vicent and Bashir Bright, Livingstone residents.
The students threaten to kill the next thief they lay hands upon. A number of students have had their rooms broken into in broad day light. The last one month, up to 6 laptop cases were reported in the custodian’s office.
