Livingstone hall students on Sunday evening boycotted food served in the Africa hall cafeteria. The angry males raided Africa hall in bid to enforce the boycott.
They allege the service providers Bossa Institutional catering Services (BICS) have relentlessly, continuously refused to improve the rations, the quality of the food and the hygiene of the serving utensils.
Led by the students’ leader and former guild contestant Umar Nsubuga. The tough talking Umar issued an ultimatum to the BICS administration to the next day (Monday) to have BICS improve.
They assert that the beans are often hard, the rice is as cold as a puppy’s nose and the posho is too soft.
The angry pack broke into song and chants outside the Africa cafeteria which serves, Livingstone and Africa hall government sponsored students.
Government students are provided with 4000UGX to provide for breakfast, supper, and Lunch per day.
The Livingstone Gentlemen raided the cafeteria blocking all students from both private and government wing from serving.
In 2014, government contracted out catering services to private companies citing inability to continue running catering services.
The students equally accuse BICS staff of being wantonly unfriendly. The peaceful demonstration heads allege that the awful tasting Sunday lunch meal summoned unfulfilled promises from previous meetings with the BICS Heads over the same concerns.
All attempts at negotiation were rejected by the Livingstone Hall leaders, students threatened to beat up BICS staff. All efforts at serving food were frustrated.
The Boycott spanning four hours was successful enough, BICS Staff were forced to withdraw their serving apparatus.
