As most of us could be ‘sitted’ during this seemingly never-ending lockdown, some creative and vibrant minds are getting 4 times more creative.
Speaking of creative minds, Gerald Mukisa (23), a Kyambogo University student and former Guild Representative (GRC) of the same institution, is not any different. The young man, who decided to turn the current ‘crisis’ situation around, has resorted to brew local waragi in his area of Residence, Kassanda in Mubende District.
Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with Education (Evening programme), Mukisa says brewing waragi helps keep him occupied during the lockdown and as well, earns him an extra shilling.
“We’ve been in lockdown for a very long period of time. So I thought to myself, why wouldn’t I start a brewery project since people are limited to access alcohol during this time” he said

We could all wonder who really purchases his waragi during this lockdown with a ban that was instated on bars and alcohol catch-points, but Mukisa clearly explains that he sells the liquor to many interested residents in his area who show up.
“I receive customers who are interested in buying my products, that’s how my business is thriving” Mukisa explains.
For the fact that the fate of re-opening universities is still unclear, Mukisa hopes to keep his business going, until campus resumption is certain.
