The Mighty sons of Chancellor Ddumba Ssentamu at the Ivory Tower today started their slow drip rate journey back to the university. The gates of the university opened officially Saturday, after over a month long break. Their Sister university in Nakawa, MUBS also opened its doors to its students.
The atmosphere around Makerere was calm, hall ministers were around to assist the wardens and custodians.
Ssentimba Rocco, the Mayor of Livingston, hall of gentlemen, says the low turn up is often expected its nothing of the extra ordinary. He added that the rooms had been fumigated against mosquitoes and the rather notorious bedbugs bedbugs. The guild president Ivan Bwowe on behalf of the Bwowe government on his social media account,facebook welcomed the students back.
Meanwhile fraud was reported around the University Gates with policemen reportedly asking for” kintu kidogo ” before allowing boda boda riders into the university. It should be noted that boda boda and taxis aren’t allowed within campus. Mutagwa Wycliffe, a journalism student, expressed bitterness “It’s quite absurd that the cops should cheat us in this heat, reporting and closing dates should be exempted from the taxi -boda ban,” the seething Wycliffe added.
On a lighter note, Waldah Ashley a Social Science fresher, expressed excitement at being a quasi -continuing student and also said she would be looking forward to avoiding her dad’s watchful eye .”It’s freedom again no curfew and party non stop.”
At MUBS, Lakot Brenda, a finalist doing BBA says “The second semester is the determinant whether I improve my CGPA which I trust I will or not .” She however ironically wasn’t in anyway showing urgency with regard to reporting.
