The Management of the famous and luxurious Madonna that has been home to many Kyambogo and Makerere University Business School(MUBS) students have come out to stop accommodating students from MUBS effective next semester.
In the recent years, several students from both campuses and a few neighboring institutions have been residing in the once posh luxurious Kyambogo based hostel. Students from MUBS where ferried in the hostel shuttle to and from their Nakawa based campus although now the hostel management has declared that such luxury will be cut off for the MUBS lads.
“We shall not be accommodating MUBS students next semester. Though those who are willing to transport themselves we can admit them,” the custodian of the hostel said.
The hostel will stop providing transport to the MUBS students although they can be accommodated provided they cater for their own transportation to their campus.
Located along Kamuli Road, behind Bavana Hostel, Madoona has been offering a great deal of laid back tranquility with tight security to all students although in recent years the hostel has been facing a number of challenges from flooding of the area to the arrest of its proprietor Richard Tusiime who is also the CEO of Pepper publications in Namanve.
Some students from MUBS have however expressed disappointment with the management of the hostel citing it as discouraging to a number of students who had already made the area their new home.
“Modonna was very cool and well situated. I cannot manage spending my own transport from Mubs to Kyambogo everyday so I will shift. It is very unfortunate to some of us,” Amuge Beatrice, a first year student from MUBS told this reporter.
However, it is not yet clear if the hostel management will revise their decision to stop accommodating students from MUBS. Campusbee will follow up on the story.
