There’s a time bomb slowly ticking away. The poison potion is brewing at Makerere university, the Makerere Government sponsored Student’s Association (MAGOSA ) is threatening to organize a strike due to the delayed arrival of living out allowances .
Living out allowance is money paid to government students that don’t reside in the Halls of residence.
Faculty allowance is money paid to government students to allow them survive. It’s to be observed that government students are unusually broke boys. The complain that their hostels are threatening to chase them out due to unpaid arrears .
Joan ,a medic says, it is the power of her thighs and the kindness of her boyfriends saving her as her financial power is running low. “I now have to depend on my boyfriend to get money for handouts and some upkeep. It is getting hard for me since my parents give me peanuts which is not even enough for my upkeep,” she cries out.
John an Engineering student ,says he’s been overwhelmed by debts and he’s been forced to change routes to campus because most kikomando stalls, zimubanja. “nze walayi I am going to strike, this is too much, so many debts and yet the gov’t isn’t doing anything to credit out accounts, nkooye,” the outraged John added.
