Makerere University Guild Minister for External Affairs, Heritier Mufano has spearheaded an initiative to reach out to reach out to communities and inspire the youth in achieving big and giving back to the community.
In conjunction with the Guild President Katereega Julius (KJ), famous Metalic Stuitcase fresher Suubi Henry Kiyimba and 30 other students, they travelled to Kakooge town Council for a 3 days outreach programme that ended on Monday, 29th October.
Among the activities they engaged in with the youth in the town Council included cleaning of trenches, hospitals and the market area, and donation of various necessities such as sugar, soap, clothes and many others.
The team also visited various secondary schools within Kakooge for inspirational talks and career guidance, advising them to start small but dream big.
They summed up the whole event with a football match between Kakooge Town Council and Makerere University Students Guild where the former won 3:2. They later had a goat roasting and fire bond talk with students from Cornerstone leadership academy.
“We asked people around the village to work hard and give all they can to make sure that their kids study. Our theme is, ‘Our Community is our responsibility’ and we are challenging the youth to always give back,” Mufano told Campus Bee.
