A ray of hope has finally shone on the disgruntled MUK students who had lost hope of getting their internship money. Mr. Bala David Bwiruka, the MUK Guild President as spoken out on the unpaid internship allowances for some students.
Bala, through his Facebook page made a formal announcement to the authorities concerned and the disgruntled students and issued an ultimatum for which the university has to beat.
It has been close to a month now and many students have not yet received their money meant for internship while others have lost hope of getting that money.
Bala has given the University until Thursday 9am to ensure that the students are given their money or else he calls upon the students to stage a strike.
Below is Bala’s full communication;
After several engagements with the University Management about issues of intern money I have realised that the university mishandled and misused some of our money.Though they claim that the system has a problem. Meanwhile I have issued an ultimatum to management that by 9:00am tomorrow all accounts of students who have not received their internship money should be credited.To their claim that the system has a problem i have provided them an optional of calling upon all students who have not yet received their money tomorrow by 11am and issue them the money manually,my cabinet and I are ready to help them out on that. However failure for University Management to do so I rise each and everyone of you who has not yet received his/her money to come on Friday at 9am to join us,storm the main building to claim for what belongs to us.”It can be done.If it’s not done,we will be done.”Thank you.We Build For The Future.
Many students have taken to social media to air out their reactions on the matter and vow to retaliate if their demands are not heeded.
Are we seeing a strike during the holidays at the mighty MUK? Watch the space!
