Kevin Jjemba, a fourth year student of Law at Makerere University treated his classmates, friends and well wishers to a concert at Valhalla on his birthday celebration. Jjemba, who made 24 on 18th Feb hosted the concert for his Special Select from 6pm to about 10pm.
The “Omukwano Gwedda” composer starting singing in 2010 and even after he signed up for the rather ‘too academic’ law degree, he didn’t give up his singing career and has since that time dropped jam after jam – including a collabo with dancehall queen Cinderella Sanyu titled “Yekyaanze”.
“Jjemba is original and true to himself. Most students drop their talents for the sake of careers but he has been able to juggle the two without unfairly elevating one over the other. He’s a genius if you asked me”, Daniel Atukunda his classmate and one of those that turned up for the show told Campus Bee.
The crowd that had staunch football fans among them were so glued to Jjemba’s performance that some of them realised midway there was a Chelsea – Manchester United game that they had to watch. That is how electric his performance was!
On stage, Jjemba was accompanied by fellow student artists like rapper Kato Romeo, poets Rushongoza and Diego Mwesigwa, and campus boy band sensation District 9.
