In the struggle to rescue the Mitchel hall speaker who was being attacked by a mob yesterday night during bazaar , Julius Katerega a second year student of Education was hit on the head with a metallic stove by an unknown person causing alot of bleeding and deep cuts; this left him unconscious. Julius in his critical state while gasping for breath was rushed to mulago hospital in the emergency and accident wing.
The unidentified person that attacked him is said to be a hooligan who fights alot in Makerere bazaars. This, however left students especially the freshers shocked and doubting the security over their lives.
This bazaar Sponsored by coca-cola started on the 4th August with a lot of activities going on. Students asked the Police to intervene and provide security as there lives are at risk now.
“We are now not so much sure if this bazaar will make us survive because insecurity is high. We ask the Police to provide us with enough protection because at the end of the day our lives matter” said Okol Joseph a fresh student. Students also condemned this act saying suspects and those found guilty should be dealt with as soon as possible.
