The Uganda Police Force on Monday October 24, 2022, said they would exhume a body and take it for DNA comparison to find out whether it was that of Jacky Nakabembe, a Makerere University student who was reported missing on October 11, 2022.
This follows the arrest of five people linked to her disappearance and recovery of her phone from one of the suspects. It also comes in the wake of her family giving her description that matched the body that was recovered on October 11, from a water channel behind Regency Bar Naguru.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire in an interview with the Kampala Sun said they would also review the postmortem report to ascertain the cause of the death. Owoyesigyire explained that her brother Bbosa Sowedi a boda boda rider and resident of Wakiso who reported the case on October 11, 2022 at Kasokoso Police Post.
“A case of disappearance was registered for investigations via Kasokoso and the later transferred to Ntinda Police Station,” Owoyesigyire said.
