Gaining immense popularity from his guild presidential campaign song, the tiny Luyinda Disney is quite a darling among students, well at least according to him, he says he’s the “People’s president.”
The small old boy of Kitende was often seen with a patch of students following a large truck bellowing his song.
“Luyinda vote Luyinda, COBAM vote Luyinda,” a song, the adulterated version of “Reggae Blues!”
Now, he’s here claiming for more, much more. Luyinda Disney swears he’ll take the Makerere oath of service as guild president next semester if the qualms between Bazil Mwotta and Roy Ssemboga don’t cease. The two contestants are embroiled in eternal court battles. Roy Ssemboga, contests the election of Mwotta citing electoral irregularities at the school of Education voting centre where Mwotta hails!
When asked why he considered himself most eligible, he stated he was the “people’s president!” When probed further whether it wasn’t unfair for him to claim the vacant position yet there was an election where he didn’t manage to attain the fourth highest vote count. He argued his association with the people was what would count.
It’s on record that Makerere’s most controversial student Falcao Mugarura known in the circles as the most roguish student attempted to overthrow democratic process by appointing himself Guild President. His feeble attempts were laughed at.
Will the same befall Luyinda? Your guess is as good as mine!
We however wait!
