Of late, car washes, charity runs and walks have become the fundraising basis in Uganda. The MAK Catholic Charismatic Renewal choir (CCR) on Sunday decided to employ this tactic and it was really worth the hard work.
They stormed the St.Augustine chapel parking lot as early as 6:30 am and turned it into a professional washing bay. Whoever parked 4 wheels and left for mass, they would after prayers find their rides sparkling new with a crispy fresh feeling in the inside. This was done all through the day’s 4 masses from 7-9 am, 9-11 am, 11-1 pm and finally in their own 6-7:30 pm mass.
The ride owners were grateful enough and were seen rewarding the participants with pink(20k) and Brown(50k) notes. At the end of the day, the choir Treasurer Angella Nabaweesi announced that they had garnered 730k and other drivers pledged to send Mobile money.
This same choir has organized a 2nd fundraising concert at St. Augustine conference hall on the 2nd of October for the same cause. The machines in need include Jazz Drums, amplifiers, a mixer, microphones, key board stands, sound monitors and other accessories.
CCR has a good start though as 3 million is in the bag already and MP Barnabas Tinkasiimire promised to import the best Jazz Drums worth 4 million as an alumni member of this choir during his olden days at MAK.
“The machines we have are quite old and some are spoilt. We also spend a lot on outsourcing machines every time we have a function. If we all come together and fundraise for new machines, our out reaches, fellowships, praise and worship sessions, as well as our masses will be better and less costly” said Frank Ludovic Ssentamu the Prayer group leader and also GRC school of a built environment.
The Minister in charge of Machines (Cable Ministry) Victor Agaba assured the prayer group that if this fundraising is successful, more talent will develop in the choir since most members aspire to learn how to play guitars, jazz drums but unfortunately have no access since they are not available.
They thus call upon all well wishers to circle 2nd October 2pm on their calendars and be @Makerere St.Augustine conference Hall for the Alpha and Omega Concert. Come have your spirit raised high with these angelic voices and gospel dance move #don’t forget to come with your contribution.
