Makerere University students who are conversant with the French language yesterday turned up in big numbers for the French dialogue that was aimed at creating vast opportunities for the french-speaking students from MAK.
However, the students who attended the French round table discussion in the Main hall yesterday under the theme “Professional and academic opportunities linked to the French language” were left disappointed as many of them came with hopes of getting immediate jobs and travelling to France.
Jean-Jacques Richer, Professor In Didactics of French as a foreign language and Joese-Maria Queiros the country’s Director Alliance Francoise broke the students’ hearts when they told them that they were not to award jobs or take anyone to France for employment opportunities regardless of the fact that many had come with high hopes of getting jobs. This vivdly left many disappointed.
“There are hopes of scholarships and volunteer opportunities in areas of Lira ad Gulu,” Doctor Edith Ruth Natukunda Senior Lecturer Languages studies and head of Department of European and Orienta Language, Makerere University revealed.
