Did you know that the Bible is a pan Africanist Book?, that people in the Bible are all Africans?, prophecies in the Bible happen to Africans?, Solomon was praising a black and lovely woman?, that Moses in the bible was a Musoga born in the Nile and educated in Ethiopia?, that History means his story, the white man’s side of the story?, that most books say Jesus was a black man and it’s the white man who distorted the story?
All these were questions posed towards students who turned up in the Livingstone Hall TV room at the Launch of Waharakati Afrika yesterday evening. Powered by Tv Afrika, Waharakati Afrika is to be a students frontier struggling for Afrika. Chosen because it’s a name that cuts across Africa.
The sole purpose of this Pan Africanist movement is to Change Africa as a front where students can express themselves about the continent. It will be more about activism and any matter discussed will be put into action. More chapters are also set to be launched in other universities across the continent and abroad.
At this very launch, a cabinet comprising of the Chairperson, General secretary, publicity secretary, culture minister and other miner posts was elected into power.
The documentaries and movies showcased at the launch mostly by Dr. Kihura Nkuba a prominent pan-africanist philosopher were reminding African students to dress in African clothes, eat African food and buy African products so that African Money remains in Africa. Interactive sessions were also held where Livingstone hall’s Mess minister Timothy reminded students to stop avoiding culture. After being elected the culture minister of the Frontier, he swore to work towards creating a cream of generation that understands it’s culture. He also told off students to stop taking African herbs as to be satanic because it’s the same drugs that make the clinical medicine they buy from pharmacies and clinics around campus.
“We all hold a quality of thoughts and practices rooted in the best image and interest of the African people.we should stop associating black with black mail, black spot, black mail, black market and many other bad things” said Busingye Rubanda-Mayonza the chairperson elect of this Association.
It’s to start holding weekly meetings code named “Pan African Fellowships” every Friday. If you want to pick a leaf or a full tree from the ideas of these young Pan African activists, get them on Facebook @Waharakati Afrika for more details.
