Today marks the beginning of End of Semester 1 exams at Makerere University. The exams in some faculties have however began on a worrisome note as most students with petty tuition balances have been denied access to exam rooms.
This comes a day after the University deployed police to block tuition defaulters from reaching 100 meters to the examination rooms.
As the usual problem solver, the agitated students led by a certain Guild presidential aspirant Ian Kikomeko have reportedly returned to their halls of residence and picked their red gowns to protest against such unfair treatment.
Kikomeko himself is a victim of what they’ve labeled ‘Unfair treatment’ as his financial statement demands 45,000 tuition balance. Currently, some 1st year students from social sciences have also joined the band wagon and are planning to have two demonstrating camps one at Senate building and the other at the Main building.
As these plan to demonstrate, their course mates are done writing their 1st exam.
