Human rights students under Makerere university Ethics and Students Association are organising a peaceful demonstration in protest over continued house arrest of Dr Kizza Besigye.

“The human rights fraternity of Makerere University is deeply concerned about the continued violations of human rights in Uganda. It’s against that background that we raise in solidarity to condemn the ongoing impunity,” said Lubega Henry Human right and ethics student.
Dubbed as “BARE FOOT DEMO,” the students will this Wednesday morning march on bare feet from freedom square to different parts of the campus.
According to a letter shared with Campus Bee, the students notified police prior to the demonstration.
The former Presidential candidate Kizza Besigye has been under house arrest, 40 days after the presidential elections where candidate Museveni was declared winner.
