The situation seems to have gotten out of hand for Makerere’s University’s top leadership following the University’s refusal to implement a November 2016 Court Order.
Makerere’s problems stem from its failure to implement a Court Order served on the VC on 2nd November last year that directed MAK’s relevant authorities to not only immediately release the academic results of a one Samiiha Nalwoga but also compensate her with Ushs 30,000,000/= for the injury she has so far suffered.

Samiiha, a 4th year student of Biomedical Engineering, has had her results withheld by the university for the past three years without explanation.
Despite the Court Order Samiiha secured to get her results, Makerere has refused to release her results, let alone compensate her. Campus Bee has learnt from Samiiha that her repeated letters to the university’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Ddumba and the Academic Registrar Mr. Alfred Namoah Masikye requesting them to implement the Court Order have equally been ignored.
A 24th January 2017 letter to the VC from Samiiha’s lawyers M/s. Centre for Legal Aid that Campus Bee has seen has seen has taken issue with threats allegedly issued by the Academic Registrar’s office to Samiiha that if she doesn’t drop her demands for the Ushs 30M, she will be purged out of the university without her results.
Samiiha’s lawyers have given Makerere University up to Friday 27th January to implement the Court order, failure to do which “we shall immediately attach the university’s assets including cash at bank, vehicles of senior management personnel and commit Mr. Masikye to civil prison” until he learns that Court Orders must be obeyed.

A similar incident played out last year when a vehicle belonging to the University Secretary was attached by Court bailiffs in the middle of a journey due to a debt the university owed a lawyer.
Neither Prof. Ddumba nor Mr. Masikye were available for comment at the time of publication.
