Makerere University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe has lifted the suspensions of students that were suspended as a result of Protests against vendor eviction.
Students at Makerere University held at demonstration to stop management from evicting small businesses that were operating within their halls of residences.
The protest saw several students arrested leading to the suspension of three while others walked away with warning letters.

Following negotiations spearhead by the guild president Maseruka Robert, the suspended students have been pardoned and fully reinstated. These are; Wandukwa Simon, Odama Ronald and Mwebaze Bruce.
According to the reinstatement letters seen by this publication, Nawangwe says the students apologised and explained themselves leaving him without a choice but pardoning them.
“In lieu of the written and oral explanations and an apology from yourself, I hereby recede your suspension and reinstate you as a student of Makerere University,” the letter reads in part
Nawangwe has warned the students to desist from actions that disturb peace at the university.
