The long awaited Makerere University 73rd Graduation has commenced today, Monday 13th February, 2023.
A total of 13,221 students are expected to graduate from the premier university by the end of the 5-day ceremony.
Day one of this year’s graduation has witnessed conferment of degrees upon students from College of Health Sciences, College of Natural Sciences and the School of Law.
The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports Hon. Janet K Museveni virtually graced the opening day as the chief guest. She thanked Makerere University staff for molding students as she urged graduands to have a mission of life as they go outside the university gates.
While presiding over the 73rd Graduation ceremony, Makerere University Chancellor Prof. Ezra Suruma told graduands that “we all face challenges that no one can foresee, always have hope in times of uncertainties” and encouraged students to always trust in God.
According to the statistics, of the 13,221 students graduating, 6,809 (52%) are female. Of these,102 are PhD graduands, 1,378 master’s and 108 postgraduate diplomas, among others.
Makerere University 73rd Graduation ceremony will proceed until Friday, February 17. Day two (tomorrow) will accommodate graduands from College of Education and External Studies (CEES) and College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES).
