Makerere University Convocation has awarded a cash prize of Shs1 million to Esther Ziribaggwa for emerging as the overall best student in Science from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES).
Ziribaggwa graduated with a Bachelor of Agriculture and Rural Innovation, attaining an outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.77.
The award was presented in recognition of her exceptional academic performance and dedication throughout her course of study. Convocation leaders commended her achievement, noting that her performance reflects both personal commitment and the high academic standards upheld at Makerere.
Her degree programme, offered under CAES, focuses on agricultural transformation, rural development, and innovation — key pillars in Uganda’s socio-economic growth. University officials described her success as a testament to the growing impact of science-based disciplines in addressing community and national challenges.
The Shs1 million cheque serves as both a reward for excellence and an inspiration to other students striving for academic distinction.
