Makerere University has celebrated the life of iconic alumnus Julius Nyerere as it gears up for the centennial celebrations.
The late political figure would have celebrated his 100th birthday today, April 13 and Makerere University couldn’t let this big date pass unnoticed.
The university hosted Doctor Aziz Ponary Mlina, the Tanzanian ambassador to Uganda on Wednesday April 13th, 2022 at the Julius Nyerere leadership center in a bid to remember the life of Julius Nyerere.
The Ambassador, together with university top administrators led by VC Prof. Nawangwe, toured some of the key areas in memory of the late such as his former room at complex hall (previously Mitchell hall).
“We are proud of this gallant Mak alumnus, a great African freedom fighter and visionary leader,” VC Prof. Nawangwe said.
As Makerere University draws close to the centennial celebrations, quite a number of its alumni are worth celebrating and Julius Nyerere is one of those.
The Julius Nyerere leadership center located along Makerere pool road was established in memory of the late Julius Nyerere with an aim of creating a legacy for learning and leadership development.
