Makerere University, through the college of humanities and social sciences has launched a book historicising the humanities.
The book titled ‘Historicising the humanities at Makerere trends, patterns and prospects’ narrates the tale of humanities.
Authored by 16, the book looks at how the humanities have evolved since pre-independence to present, with focus on humanities at Makerere University.
The book looks at how disciplines like philosophy, literature, history, religious studies, music and drama have evolved over the past 100 years.
Historicising the humanities at Makerere was launched at the international humanities conference 2022.
The conference was organized under the theme ‘knowledge revolution and practices; area cultural and global studies’.
The international humanities conference was part of the Makerere University centennial pre-celebratory series.
