Makerere University has announced the first beneficiaries of its Student Work Scheme, an initiative designed to provide part-time employment opportunities for students.
This scheme was established by the Makerere University Council with the dual purpose of helping students meet their financial needs and gaining valuable work experience, which will be crucial in their pursuit of gainful employment after graduation.
Under this scheme, 20 students have been recruited as Hall Attendants, taking up roles that will allow them to earn while they study.
The Student Work Scheme is part of the university’s broader commitment to preparing its students not only academically but also for the challenges of the workforce, both within the university and in the broader job market.
Today, the newly recruited Hall Attendants received an orientation led by the Coordinator of the Student Work Scheme and the Warden of Mary Stuart Hall.
The orientation covered the scope of their responsibilities and how they can effectively balance their academic commitments with their work duties.
