23 year old Viola Asizu, a fourth year student of Pharmacy at Makerere University, has been discovered in her hostel room, dead and decomposing. This is according to reports by Police spokesperson Fred Enanga.
Asizu had stayed behind to complete her research even after the semester closed and she was staying in Hollywood Hostel located in Mukwenda Zone, Kawempe Division. She was staying without a roommate.
According to a neighbours’ report, the victim was last seen on Thursday, 12th December, 2019, cooking porridge at around 4pm.
“It is on December 14, 2019, that a bad smell started coming out of her room, with flies around. The custodian, Henry Kitaka was alerted and he informed Makerere University Police,” Enanga said in a statement.
Enanga further revealed that when the police broke into her room she was found dead with an uninsulated cable to her laptop that was still connected to the socket.
“The position of the body and the post-mortem indicate that she was electrocuted while connecting her laptop to the socket and killed when she simultaneously came in contact with the energized uninsulated cable.”
