The 19th annual Makerere University law school dinner that took place last Friday saw the school fashionably and enviably send off fourth year law students at the posh Sheraton Hotel, Kampala.
Besides crippling traffic flow in the city as cars struggled to access the Nakasero based hotel, the students filled up the room beyond capacity.
The dinner that was in Sheraton’s Rwenzori ballroom could arguably pass off as the most anticipated in a law student’s life at Makerere.
The finalists’ dinner that was meant to wave farewell to 4th year students who will be sitting their Law Development Centre (LDC) pre-entry exam in less than 3 months after the closure of this semester.
One of the finalists, Harold Ntale could not hide the joy of the moment after seeing his year almost stride to the finish line.
“It has been an amazing four years. I have made very wonderful friends that are almost irreplaceable right now. We atleast have to celebrate that.”
The dinner attracted among other guests, Francis Gimara the Uganda Law Society (ULS) President and his cabinet, partners from the famous Katende Ssempebwa and Company Advocates and the Chief Guest, Justice Remy Kasule of the Court of Appeal.
“It is always inspiring to have events that bring together the elder community of the brand to iron and shape the younger generatation. The law is that beautiful”, Kansiime Mukama the Makerere Law Society President intimated.
