The Chaplain of St. Augustine Chapel for the Catholic domain in Makerere Fr. Josephat Ddungu in his congratulatory message to the Lumbox Fraternity who emerged overall winners in the Marathon on Saturday, had no kind words for what he termed as “never ending use of gross and vulgar language” by the Fraternity.
Lumbox Solidarity who came out as overall winners and were closely followed by Mitchellex, were awarded medals and a goat for attaining that position.
Lumbox consists of Lumumba and Mary Stuart Halls of residence in Makerere.
The Chaplain who nonetheless congratulated them for emerging victors and urged other solidarities that took part to better their best next time, had no kind words for Lumumba.
“Today morning, on a Sunday, they passed by my place jogging and the words that were coming out of their mouths were not befitting of a University Student.”
Makerere boys’ halls of residence carry out regular jogging sessions where, as has been the norm, move around the University and places surrounding whilst shouting all sorts of obscenities and trying to ridicule rival halls of residence.
In his message, the man of God emphasised that there are so many songs that can be sang and are not necessarily supposed to be vulgar.
