A total of 180 students at Makerere University’s School of Economics have been invited to answer to cases of exam malpractice.
In the documents accessed by this website, Examination Malpractice and Irregularities Committee meeting in which the mentioned students will appear, is slated to take place from Tuesday 14th March to Thursday 16th March in the board room – 3.1 Block A.
According to the warning indicated on the summon papers, the invited students risk being blocked by the University’s Student System if they fail to appear before the committee.
Majority of these students are from the Bachelor of Arts in Development Economics programme.
If found guilty, the affected students face suspension/discontinuation from the university, cancellation of the academic course in question among other penalties as stated in the rules on exam malpractice and irregularities (2015 edition). The penalties vary depending on the degree of irregularity.
Last year, more than 70 law students at the same institution, were summoned on allegations of breaching exam policies.
