The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University has extended its application deadline.
Initially, applications were poised to stop today, 6th June but applicants now have until 10th June, 2025.
The extension intends to provide additional time for prospective students facing technical difficulties.
It was rampantly reported that some applicants encountered troubles while generating Payment Reference Numbers (PRN) during the university admission process, which prevented them from completing their scholarship applications on time.
The program offers 190 undergraduate and 11 master’s scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year.
For undergraduate programs, applicants must have applied for admission to Makerere University’s main campus under the private sponsorship scheme, completed advanced secondary education or equivalent in an African country, and be experiencing financial hardships.
Age limits are 28 years or younger, with extensions to 32 years for refugees, internally displaced persons, and students with disabilities.
Master’s program applicants must have applied for admission to Makerere University’s main campus for 2025/2026, completed undergraduate education in an African country, and not be over 35 years of age, with the limit extended to 40 years for refugees and students with disabilities.
Prospective applicants can submit their applications through the online portal at https://apply.mastercardfoundation.mak.ac.ug/scholarships, with the new deadline set for Monday, June 10, 2025, at 11:59 PM EAT.
