The Academic Registrar of Makerere University has released the academic year plan for the 2018-2019 academic year specifying dates for the most important events in that academic year including semester openers and closures.

As applicants anxiously await the private sponsorship admissions lists to be released, the university has notified them that their semester shall commence on the 4th of August giving them one week of orientation in the campus as continuing students report on 11th of the same month.

The first semester shall run for a total of 17 weeks until 8th December.
Opening dates at Makerere have often times been affected by industrial action by staff and this semester may not be any different since the staff have already threatened to lay down their tools until government fulfils a promise to increase their salaries.

Noteworthy is that it is only one month to the indicated reporting date and considering that the admission lists are not yet out, this should be a sign that the lists are falling in soon enough to give parents and guardians adequate time to raise tuition and other related fees.
