Makerere university 67th graduates are seriously proceeding with their plans to strike against delayed transcripts come next Thursday 25, May.
Though the ring leader of this strike remains anonymous, we have learnt that it is actually not a drill, and yes the strike is happening. Since finishing their exams last year June, these graduates have missed out great opportunities to get jobs as the University management never released transcripts which are very vital in job hunting.
Makerere University withheld 14,895 transcripts for students who graduated in February until the institution completes cleaning up its results management system after some staff infiltrated the online marks system and falsified some of the students’ marks.
This delay has forced concerned young people to launch a WhatsApp group named “MUK War Of Transcript” through which mobilization is made easier. Despite the exclusive information we have managed to obtain regarding this strike, we haven’t learnt whether the strike will be peaceful or the usual violent strikes Makerere has had.
News from the corridors of MAK have revealed that the organisers of the strike are trying to engage the University’s guild president to participate since he included it in his manifesto( Kato Paul said in campaigns that he will make sure transcripts are issued).
It’s almost a year now since they sat for their exams but these transcript-less graduates are still unemployed.
