Makerere University guild leaders and several other students with an eye for leadership have been part of the second phase of the Emerging Leaders Program training.
The second phase of the training started on January 7, 2024, and has been going on for five days at the Brisk Hotel, Ltd, in Jinja District.
The Training is being under the theme, “Empowering Emerging Leaders for Makerere University and beyond.”
The training, implemented by LIFE Ministry Uganda and The Global Leadership Summit was curated to target Makerere University a group of 120 select student leaders.
The Student Leaders have been engaged in a very rigorous and insightful character building training all week with a focus on topics such as Leadership, Integrity, Risk reduction behaviour, HIV/AIDs awareness, Mentorship and Teaching & learning methods to mention but a few.
The training will culminate with a certificate awarding ceremony on 12th January 2024 starting at 2pm at the Brisk Hotel, Ltd which will be presided over by the Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry, Fisheries, the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance and Administration, Prof. Eria Hisali, and the Principal, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Josephine Ahikire.
Background of the Emerging Leaders Program
On 2nd February 2023, The First Lady and Honorable Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni inaugurated the Makerere University Council, where she asked the Council to join her and implement a national Anti-Corruption and HIV/AIDS Campaign, starting with Makerere University in the bid to raise a dignified generation of youth in Uganda.
