Makerere University 89th Guild President can finally attest that leadership is not all rosy following series of frustration that he is currently faced with.
From the time he was sworn in as guild president in April, now making about four months in office, Maseruka has been struggling to impress his voters.
Some of his targets have been reviving the Makerere Freshers ball and bazaar that were suspended in Nambassa Shamim’s reign.
Things, however, seem to be getting even tougher for Maseruka whose government is already being compared with the three months government of his predecessor Alionzi Lawrence, with the latter scoring more.
Maseruka Robert has taken his disappointment to his Twitter (now X), and disclosed that someone is frustrating his efforts.
“why do you frastruate the process. Should we stop making engagements . Can’t you offer the least . Freshers ball , Bazzar (bazaar) yakuttira Ani,” part of his post reads.
According to Maseruka, there are some people that have continuously frustrated his efforts to have the Freshers ball and bazaar back.
“You cannot afford sitting in a meeting where when people are ready to support students it’s you discourage our engagements engage , we sit, we dialogue. Why Because we feel it’s the way to go ,” he adds.
Makerere University suspended all social events during the 87th government. During Alionzi Lawrence’s three months reign, he managed to convince the administration to let him organise a Black Alley concert that closed earlier that events used to.
Alionzi also managed to convince administration to loosen some of the rules and a Freshers dinner was introduced in place of Freshers ball.
Maseruka has been hoping that with all these achievements from his predecessor, he can even pull off a bigger move. However, things are seemingly not in his favour.
