Makerere University guild president, Paul Kato on Friday grossly plagiarised former USA President Barack Obama and current USA president Donald Trump’s inaugural speeches after his swearing in that took place at the University main hall.
Kato started with Barack Obama’s ‘Yes We Can” 2009 inauguration speech and ended with Donald Trump 2017 inauguration speech.
Below is his inauguration speech
My fellow students of Makerere University: I stand here today humbled by the task before us grateful for the trust you’ve bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by makerereans. I thank President Ssemboga Roy for his service to our Great institution as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition. Eighty-three guild presidents have now taken the presidential oath.
The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often, the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, Makerere has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we, the people, have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears and true to our founding documents. So it has been; so it must be with this
generation of Makerere.
Now it’s time for we Makereans to bind the wounds of division; have to get together. To all Mitchellites, Lumumbists, Boxers, Complex,Africans, Livingstone,North court and University Halland those with various political ideologies across this University, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people. It’s time.
I pledge to every Makererean that I will be president for all Makererean, and this is so important to me and hereby invite all makerereans for our victory party due to take place tomorrow at Mitchell hall.
May God you.
Kato Paul
83rd guild president.
