Makerere University guild president Lubega Vincent Nsamba is currently under fire following a recent change in the examination timetable that has seen exams being brought forward.
Makerere University announced a new change in the examination schedule on Monday, bringing end of semester two exams forward.
The end of semester two exams at Makerere University will start on April 29, 2024 as opposed to May 21, 2024. This change follows deliberations between management and the guild president Lubega Nsamba.
Nsamba had earlier said he was in talks with management to address the concerns of students following the postponed of the end of semester exams to allow students take part in the national census exercise.
However, little did he know that this decision would backfire. A section of students are roasting their guild president following this decision which they say is unfair.
A section of students have informally written to the guild president expressing their regret. In a letter seen by this reporter, the students claim the decision doesn’t represent them.
“We therefore want to inform you that the move you and the university have taken to reschedule the timetable from what they had extended it to is entirely your bedroom decision,” the letter reads in part.
The students further claim that they regret voting for a ‘young man’ into power and that the 90th guild leadership has failed at its very inception.
According to the latest development, Makerere University has granted students a leave of three days to participate in the national census exercise. Students will break off on May 8th and return on May 10th to continue with their exams.
However, according to the census roadmap, the national census exercise will begin on May 10th, 2024, the very date students are expected to be back on campus to continue with their exams.
