Makerere University has been selected to host the Inter Institutional Prayer Day (IIPD) once again after 5 years.
Organised by St.Augustine Catholic Chaplaincy (SAC), the event will kickoff tomorrow in Makerere playground starting from 7am-6pm under the theme: “DO NOT CONFORM TO THE STANDARDS OF THE WORLD Romans 12:2″.
IIPD’s mission is to equip students with leadership skills, good morals and talents empowerment. IIPD is also intended to improve sharing, unity and increase the chances of networking amongst students. It acts as a voice and forum to mitigate religious, socio-economic issues in the University environment.
This event is held twice every year in different institutions country wide during March and October. The last 4 events have been held at KIU, Gulu University, Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara and Busoga University.
H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is going to be the Chief guest and Over 35 Universities and tertiary institutions have been invited with a turn up of 1500 students already confirmed.
According to the organisers, the event is going to be free of charge and all students and well-wishers who want to attend will be only be required to pay Shs 5000 for lunch if they wish to have it.
According to the program, the day is going to be dominated by praise and worship sessions, teachings from different high profile persons, prayers and confessions led by priests.
The institutions will also take part in presentations in form of songs, skits, dances and the day will be summed up by Mass/service led by Rev Fr Joseph Luzindana, the Youth Chaplain for Kampala Arch Diocese and Msgr Expedito Magembe from Bukalango.
