Friday 6th October, marked the end of the three day International Humanitarian Law (IHL) moot court competitions organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at Hotel Africana, Kampala.
The competition which ran from the 4th to the 6th of October, 2017 attracted among other universities, Makerere University, Uganda Christian University, Kampala International University (KIU) and IUIU.
The finale had Makerere and UCU where the former emerged winner eventually. On top of receiving the ‘Winning Team Award’, Makerere’s Hussein Gulam Dawood emerged the competition’s ‘Best Oralist’.
Not to be outdone however, UCU took home the award for the ‘Best Memorial’.
Dawood represented Makerere alongside Apollo Kasujja Kibirige and Patricia Nabasirye.
Their university will consequently represent Uganda in Arusha at the Africa-wide competition organised by the same organisers – ICRC.
