Yesterday, 14th Nov, 2015 marked the 2nd last day of a campaign dubbed #LegacyEsther to raise 700,000 shillings for the completion of deceased Makerere student, Esther Milly Nakitende’s grave in Kangave, Nakaseke District. The campaign that started on 2nd Nov now has over 500,000 shillings with the most money coming in from the classmates of the late, 3rd year Journalism students.
According to the President Makerere University Journalism and Communication Association (MUJCA), Aggrey Nyondwa , the money raised will cater for the completion of the grave and all expenses including transportation and feeding those who will make it back to Kangave.
“Esther was a dear whom we lost in a very shocking and unfair way, ensuring that she gets a respectable resting place is the least we can do.” A nostalgic Nyondwa commented.
Esther was found raped and stubbed to death in her room on the fateful night of 31st October, 2015. Her suspected murderer, Robinson Buule, also a cousin was on the run but was finally caught and arrested by police.
Now facing charges of rape and murder, Buule revealed that he was acting on orders of his auntie (not the one the late stayed with) who promised him 5million to kill the deceased and after dump her body in a water tank at home. He however did not have the keys to the tank and thus locked the body in a room. It is alleged that the aunt was jealous of the late always being entrusted with money from a relative abroad.
