The School of Engineering Students Association of Nairobi University proved once again why it is one of the best association in the university by holding the annual international engineering students conference which attracted various institutions from across East Africa.
Engineering students were once again challenged to generate solutions to climate change and exchange ideas with leading innovators in the world via the International Engineers conference hosted by Nairobi University Kenya early February this year. The event was based on four key thematic areas which also attracted players from the industry who interacted with the students through panel sessions and mentoring sessions.
Speaking during the event, Israel Deputy Ambassador to Kenya, H. E. Eyal David, opined that they are ready to help students with innovation. As a country, they are very strong on innovation.
“We are ready to share our technology, our experiences and our expertise with you, ” he said.
One of the two projects from Kyambogo University led by Hon. Elisha, an engineering GRC managed to come second in the contest leaving Makerere for the lead with the winning project therefore guaranteeing Uganda the lead in the international conference line up. The victors returned with their certificates and a batch so souvenirs to show for their trip.
The organizing committee was awed by the turnout this year and expressed their wish to include even more institutions in future. The dean of the School of Engineering also expressed optimism in the growth of the conference to encompass the while continent in future.
