The department of Journalism and Communication at Makerere University yesterday launched the student’s exhibition week as it prepares to celebrate 30 years of training.
The highly anticipated exhibition started at 9 am with a brief introduction from the chief organizer about what the event is, its purpose and what is expected of the participants. It took place at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and is to go on till Friday.
This exhibition seeks to create a platform for the Journalists to show case their skills in news writing, photography, news anchoring and reporting, editing. It is no doubt that a number of them have participated in the above mentioned fields.
Josephine Namakumbi, a news reporter at NBS TV said Journalism is a long journey that drives the society in any possible way and urged the students to put it to correct use. She also urged students to engage in exhibitions when opportunities are availed to them because it helps them gain confidence in their profession and career.
Charles Odongtho, an award winning journalist, multi-media content producer and talk show host who was one of the speakers encouraged students to add value to their knowledge and use the available opportunities profitably.
