Dear friends and colleagues,
I am Godfrey Mayende, an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Open and Distance Learning, Makerere University and a PhD student at the University of Agder, Norway. I was recently diagnosed with cancer in the mouth closer to the throat. I was scheduled to be in Uganda between July and December 2015, for my PhD field research, but I have had to reschedule this until, I am through with the surgery/operation to remove the cancer. The Hospital in Oslo, Norway has scheduled my surgery/operation on Tuesday 21st July 2015. Given that the surgery/operation is in the mouth, the doctor told me that they will remove my teeth in order to the do the surgery/operation. They have already measured my upper palate and teeth for replacement after the surgery/operation. After the surgery, it is estimated that the wound will take six weeks to heel then radiology will start for another six weeks.
Currently I am alone in Norway were the operation is scheduled to take place. Because of the long time involved in the process of surgery and treatment we (family) are planning to bring my mother to Norway for one month. This will assist in the emotional psychology. However, the process is both very difficult and expensive and we need some spiritual and financial support from you my dear colleagues, friends, brothers and sisters. We are now fundraising money to assist my mother in air ticket, health insurance, daily subsistence, and accommodation for one month to take care of me (estimated at 40,000 NOK (USD 5,000)).
Please for any assistance you can contact
