Makerere medics have adopted unusual tendencies,their seriousness is out of this world. They are rare around university and they have this “lemon face” of absolute misery and fatigue.
The main reason attributed to this is the New policy at Med school. The “STAY PUT POLICY !” The stay put policy is the monster calculated to over come the often incompetent doctors produced. The policy is to the effect, that any retake, prevents you from progressing to the next year.
Instead, one is expected to first work upon the retake, before continuing to the next year. Says,the med school dean.
This means ; A second year student who fails one paper can’t progress to third year till he resits and passes the same. You should not complain should your brother, or friend spend more years than expected at Med school , just know the stay put policy is biting hard. And the state of affairs at med school are very tense!
