Makerere University has openly requested the public to provide information to support investigations regarding “Marks for Sale” allegations.
A few months ago, the Daily Monitor article published on Thursday, 26th Of October, 2023, titled: “Marks for Sale at Universities” alleged that some students in Ugandan Universities, including Makerere University bribe their way to better academic grades.
Management retaliated on several occasions stating that the university “has zero tolerance for academic fraud or dishonesty and has strict policies to guarantee the highest standards of academic integrity.”
The latest development indicates that the university is undertaking investigations since it “takes the allegations in the Daily Monitor article seriously.”
“Makerere University now invites members of the general public with any information on the alleged “Marks for Sale” at the University or any other credible information incidental to the investigation to submit such information to the Investigation Committee by the 15th January, 2024,” the university announced on X.

The general public has been assured that any information shared concerning this investigation shall be handled with utmost confidentiality.
