While addressing the media in the monthly media briefing at Makerere University, the University’s Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe has finally relaunched the Makerere montlyh Bulletin. The monthly publication earlier run by the journalism students has not been running until today when they officially decided to bring it back.
Its relaunch has come following a number of complaints from students who eargerly wanted it back. Like the previous editions, this newspaper will feature events and news happening within Makerere University as well as official communication from the top management.
The Printing and editorial activities of this publication are currently being facilitated by the Makerere University management and the students guild but they are planning to gain more income from advertisers. Unlike other Ugandan news publications, the Makerere bulletin will be a free copy to all Makerere University students coming out once a month. Some of the memebers on the editorial team include, Ritah Namisango (the University PRO), Agaba Isaa Mugabo, Mark Wamai and Elias Tuhareze.
There has been looming conflicts amongst Makerere University regarding who should run this publication where journalism students wanted to exclusively run it from management to editorial. Apparently, the current editor in chief is not a journalism student something that has brought in confusion.
