Mugisha Edgar Stuart, third year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy is the newly elected 90th Guild Speaker of the Makerere University students guild.
Edgar was declared winner of the post Easter polls that saw the 90th GRC house elect its top legislative leadership.
He won with a record difference of 35 votes, as his nearest opponent Ongom Jimmy registered only 30 votes. Mufakinanye Moses came third with 19 votes.
The 90th GRC also elected Namukwana Shifa as the deputy speaker to Mugisha Edgar. Shifa garnered 57 votes to beat her opponents Niwasiima Hellena and Daisy Rukundo who got 27 and 29 votes respectively.
Akankwasa Brenda was elected as the guild clerk with Mbuga Kasimagwa as her deputy.
Mugisha will, together with his deputy, chair all the eight sessions of the 90th guild house as he puts emphasis on debate quality per his manifesto.
